Size
and number of trees to be planted depend on the area of the garden.
In home gardens, flowering trees are preferred, particularly those with
colourful flowers blooming for a long time. Flowering trees with globose
or conical form of crown are more suited to small compoinds. A few tall
trees may be planted at the back yard to act as a background for the
building structure, provided enough land is available. Crowded planting
should be avoided as it gives an uneasy feeling of congestion and suffocation.
Thick planting of trees not only disturbs the harmony and balance of
the garden, it robs the inmates of free air and sunshine.
